NEPDP Academic Bridging

Introduction

Français

Welcome to NEPDP 2023-2024

If you are a CWO/CPO1 you must complete the Certificate of Advanced Military Studies (CAMS), consisting of mandatory and elective courses at the 300 and 400 level.  Militarily relevant courses were selected in consultation with the Canadian Defence Academy, and approved by the Chief of the Defence Staff. For now, get settled, get connected, review the bridging program outline, and think about the courses you would like to take.

Advanced education for NCMs’ professional career development: a conclusive experience?

Bridging Program Overview

The academic bridging program is intended to help you prepare for academic success at RMC. Some of you may have been out of school for many years. You’ll be taking senior (300 and 400 level) university courses, which demand good research, reading, writing, and seminar skills. We’ll walk you through the basics in about five days, but if you need longer, I’ll spend the time with you or get you extra help. We are committed to your success.

Learning from RMC

As part of a strategic leadership team in the future you will share responsibility for “stewarding the institution.” The military colleges (RMC and CMR Saint-Jean) are important for their role in shaping CAF organizational culture. They are not without blemishes and oddities, and your interaction with cadets will give you a chance to see first hand some of the influences on young officers and some of the challenges in shaping and leading change in institutions.  This will probably be the most consistent theme of your discussions amongst yourselves during the year.
